Hi TB,
As a general rule, the fartest forward cylinder is #1, which should be the drivers side.
Brewer is right-on, use a vacumn gauge instead of the light, and adjust until you are pulling max vacumn at idle. I threw away my light years ago, vacumn is more exact for performance and economy.
