I had a similar problem with my 360 Dodge about 45000 miles after a rebiuld by Napa.
The truck at times would chug, usually when cold and coming up to temp.

Plugs looked good and could not isolate the problem, Had alot of people stumped. I took off the valve covers/rockers and noted that one valve guide was sitting at a different hieght than the rest with the rocker off.

It turns out a valve had went bad. That cyclinder and the next one in the firing order had high readings, 170 Lbs.

It was explianed to me why this happened as far as the high Comp. readings.

As far as the valve going bad the motor was rebuilt prior to only unleaded gas being available.

Hope this helps.
