Well-said Eric. I had the same thoughts when I read the thread. That's why I said that it would REALLY make you appreciate this forum.

I think we don't get a lot of 'that' mentality on this forum because the flat fenders and even PG's don't attract 'that' crowd. Meaning you don't see many with 12" lifts, big blocks, 48" wheel travel, go 75+ mph etc. So the folks that want those things steer away from 'our' trucks. They feel that if a truck can't be easily modified to do the above-mentioned things, it's not worth their attention. They over look the fact that our trucks were factory built with the capability of doing just about anything you ask them to do WITHOUT mods!

Maybe it has something to do with maturity? Not age, but mental maturity. I'm not that old, in fact I was born around the time the last domestic flat fender was built. Maybe it has to do with what we appreciate? I was raised to appreciate things that are well built and engineered to withstand the test of time and to take care of the things that are built this way because they DON'T build them like that anymore. Maybe it's because there are so few of our trucks and those of us blessed with owning them feel like a family? I know that when I bought my truck I felt like I was being interviewed for an adoption! What other forum has the out pouring of emotion we do when a member passes away, someone is sick, has a baby or gets married? And for that matter, what other forum would you feel comfortable sharing these things with?

I haven't been around as long as some of the guys on here. I think I started lurking around forum 3 or 4. I can remember reading and absorbing all the great info and being in awe of the knowledge of the folks that answered questions. I spent hours reading the questions and the answers. All the while dreaming of owning my own truck. I had many questions when I eventually bought my truck and they were (and still are) answered quickly and accurately. There have been a few folks that 'trolled' from time to time, but Joe usually took care of those isolated problems quickly.

I read a couple of other forums throughout the day and this one is the best by far. We may stray off topic now and again, and those times we do are still educational, sometimes entertaining and occasionally from the heart.

So, three cheers for Joe and all PW Forum members! You are the best!
