Steering ??W100 to WC54

Why does a 64 W100 truck steer so nice and my 42 WC54 steer so stiff. Both boxes are in good working order. still are original,never been rebuild. Checked adjustment ok. Very little play. Is it that they are two different boxes. I wish my truck would steer as nice as the 64 W100??? Any Idea? Thanks The Dodge Boys! Thanks!!
