I went through the process here in NM about 4 years ago. The state will require a VIN inspection. The guy I used was Bob Hunter, Email me and I will give you the phone numbers, He came out and performed the inspection and ran the vin for previous titles and against stolen vehicle lists. Mine came up with no title on file anywhere, I had to put up a two year assurity bond, which I also got through Bob Hunter (he is an insurance agent). DMV then allowed me to register my truck without any problem. The whole process including the registration cost about $200.00 and an afternoon at DMV.
