Dodge identification

I went to pick up a junk motorcycle today, about 40 miles from home. The guy had a driveway at least a half mile long, through the woods. He had various junk laying around the yard, including an old Dodge army truck. Bear with me, because I am not familiar with old army vehicles at all. It looked like a half ton or three quarter ton. I searched through the different sites, and I would say it is probably an M37. There was no bed on it. A previous owner had "closed in" the cab with sheet metal and plexiglass. The inside is a complete disaster, thanks to the years and mice. I'm calling it an M37 based on general looks; the HUGE fold down windshield, flat fenders, etc. I opened th ehood for a quick glance; it has a flathead 6 in it, can't remember what it said on the head, Thunderbolt maybe? Something off the wall, anyway. Anyway, this is just an old neglected mess. When he came out of the house with the keys to the junk motorcycle I bought from him, the old guy nodded toward the truck and said "If you want that thing, get it out of my yard." So I will definitely be sending a ramp truck to pick it up within a couple weeks, and it can be in MY yard, next to my '42 International. My reason for posting is this: How can I identify it for sure as to year and model? I didn't think to have my digital camera with me, of course, so I won't have a photo to post for a while. Any info would be appreciated.
