Honestly, I don't see the appeal at all. You'll get modern truck performance in a cramped, outdated cab. (Personally, I'm majorly into cramped, outdated cabs. ) You should do what you like, but I think it would be a shame. This is basically a religious question, though, so logic doesn't enter into it, except to say that unless you did an extraordinarily professional and clean job, you would end up with a truck worth about what it could be parted out for. And if you do that super custom shop modification, no way will you ever get anything close to your money out of it. Unless it's a total labor of love and price is no object, in which case follow your bliss. Hurts to think of a good old body not being built into a correct original truck though. My $.02, adjusted for inflation.
