I am in the process of building my mudpit out back of my place. First off, I brush hogged off a area about 1/4 acre. I plan to t ake and get a plow and disk and work that area up really really well. My mud pit is located in an area with lots and lots of clay and clay gets really really gooey and stuff. See, it dont matter how deep the mud is per se, because there is not much you can do to control it. It is good to make a mud pit in a low area that holds water with clay or muck. I had a mud bog party at my place here 2 weeks back but I did not any mud, so we used my neighbors mud pit. As for insurance, I would just use your normall homeowners and make people sign a waiver before they go and play.
