Well said David, The biggest problem with split rims is water and rust. They seem to have an inherent rusting problem. There is some tire goop that tire shops use to help lubricate the tire during installation and it is supposed to help rusting and corrosion at the ring area. I don't have any combat rims. When I need to get an old tire off a regular rim, I use my backhoe teeth to pry the tire off thge rim, it puts enough force on a concentrated area, and cuts down on the sweat and back breaking labor of physically prying off the tire by hand. It even takes a little time with the backhoe, they really get on there with rust. Course you wouldn't want to do this with a newer tire, only ones you want to throw away.
