I read where someone on this forum said they milled their head .080. When I was rebuilding my 251 I checked the valve clearance to the head with clay and it was 120 thousanths so I had mine milled .080. I can not tell you the change in the CR or the HP increase but it runs very well with no interference.

As far as splitting the manifold you need a donor manifold to cut the outlet piece from and weld it to the front portion of your manifold to create a dual outlet. One for cylinders 123 and one for cylinders 456.

I am fabricating a custom exhaust header and intake for my engine. I had a piece of 1/2" thick flat stock drilled with the holes to match the block ports and stud holes. It was also ground flat for good seating. The port holes are sized for 1 1/2" tubing and match up perfectly sized to the block. All the custom header pieces can be purchased from SSHeaders.com. The intake will be set up for a 2 barrel carb. I will post pictures after it is complete.
