Heating a garage? -O/T

After living 5 years without one, I'm FINALLY getting a garage to work in this winter by modifying an old store building I have. It's not too well insulated or sealed-up, and we do occassionaly get down around O degrees F. The building has a wood stove, but that or a propane heater makes me REAL nervous with the possibility of gas fumes, etc. I'd really appreciate any suggestions on an economical (if there is one) way to heat this shop.
