A car or truck that has been with the family for years tends to be hard to part with. I had the same feeling when I let go of the 55 Pontiac that my dad had bought. Every piece of that car had a story to go with it. But there comes a time when we don't have the time/money/space to keep a vehicle just for sentimental reasons. Trust that its going to a good home to do what it was built to do.
As a side note, my mom sold her car at a deep discount on the condition that it had a nice garage in its future owner's house. She inspected the garage before turning the keys over. So yes, I know exactly how you feel.
