Try some wd-40 or similar product. let it soak in and try tapping around the dist with a plastic hammer. It probably hasn't been removed in a lot of years. When reinstalling you may have to turn the crankshaft with a wrench to let the gears mesh as it slides in. At least that's the way I do it. If you don't get it to point to the #1 plug pull it out and turn it back or forward one tooth and slip it back it. It may take a couple of tries.
