I did a conversion on my 89 Dodge work truck a couple of summers ago and it worked fine for two years until I sold it working this summer. As far as I know it still works good. It had no R12 in the system when we started. We took the new compressor and added 9 (maybe to much?)ounces of the mineral oil. Removed the expansion valve and the drier. Then blew out any old oil that we could get out there, was very little left. We then installed a new expansion valve and drier and the new compressor w/oil and all new gaskets. Then took it to a friend of ours. He had a set of gages and a vaccum pump which he made from an old fridge compressor. He put a vaccum on it and we waited and checked and then filled it with the 134, it has been great....
