Good point. I got mine because I work with stainless steel. Plasma arc cuts through it and aluminum like butter and leaves a smooth cut. I still use my cutting torch on thicker steel(anything over 3/8") because a plasma leaves a wider kerf or angle on the backside.

You can also cut thinner pieces without having as much warp or as much heat damage. Yea, they are expensive but seem to hold their value better than most vehicles you buy for $20,000 or more. Cost of a QUALITY tool doesn't bother me as much as some other things. In retrospect, I'd buy it again. Kevin
