The two sycro trannys I have, have a date of 57 on the top plate cover, behind the shifter. Also the shifter is further forward than the non-sycro. If all else fails take the shifter top cover off and look in the front of the housing behind the first gear and there should be the syncro. It is three visible peices a flat disc in the middle with two half round plates one in front and one in rear of the middle plate. Hopr this helps.
