Ok, lets check for proper mating of the male lug and female section of the drive joints to make sure they are not reversed. The male and female are distinguished by:

Male - Has the two protruding jaws - This is mated to the inner axle shaft,
Female - Has the two receiving grooves - This is mated to the outer axle shaft.

Both the male/female sections have etched mating numbers 1, 2,3 and 4 and are usually matched by 1's, 2's 3's or 4's. Check to see if the correct parts are on each axle side. Post if it still binds up, but this should correct your problem. The locking noise on turns could have been from worn axle bushings or knuckles that were too loose. See the post on bearings to adjust your knuckles properly.
