For 30 years we had a 12 foot dug well. It was wonderful water and never failed us. Then 3 years ago it started to dry up during the summers. We had a deep well drilled, 475 feet (470 feet in solid rock) and only cost $4500 including pump and hookup. I feel lucky. My wife still uses the old well for her greenhouse, its warmer water.
