Well it's 3 a.m. - could sleep w/o knowing. Seems the valve stems carboned up bad - causing 5 of the 6 intake valves to stick! Didn't I say it sounded like it was running on one cylinder. I spend 2 hours trying to free up #2 exhaust valve w/ little success - now needs lighter hits from a dead blow hammer to close:( I also found rust on the stem:( I'm replacing that valve and guide - plus the rest while I'm there. The cylinders looked good - almost no ridge but honing marks not visible.

BTW: 3 of the valve looked new - so maybe the engine was rebuilt not too many running hours ago.

So it appears this all was caused by me running junk gas - I didn't flush the tank - just added dry gas and premium gas. Experience is a stern teacher.
