Call this strange or whatever...
I'm driving into work this morning at about 5:30am in our commuter car wishing I could be driving my PW (it's 90 miles and over Snoqualmie pass to Seattle, WA).
I remember seeing a fellow driving last summer on the I-90, in a '48 PW with the flatbed loaded to the gunnels with gear. I followed him to the next exit. He was relocating from Illinois to Washington state, driving that whole way in his 50MPH PW! Then again on the way home from the California rally, On the I-5 somewhere around the CA-OR border, I see the unmistakeable rear view of a PW, motor screaming, heading up a steep hill. He also was loaded to the hilt, a XR250 stuffed sideways in the bed and a aluminium boat strapped across the roof. All manner of equipment jammed in there also. So I'm thinking about how wild it would be to take a long journey in a old PW. I dismiss it as too long, too slow, etc...etc...
Back to the morning's lonley drive over the pass..... a few more miles down the road, what do I see..... A '65-'67 W300 flatbed again loaded to the hilt heading to Seattle. I pull up alongside, theres the crazyiest old bird driving this thing, all windows rolled down to keep the exaust fumes from making him go to sleep I'm sure!
Man, it really makes me want to hit the road! I think the great spirit POWAG is calling, trying to tell me something!
What's the farthest anyone has driven in thier old 1 ton PW? Anyone go across the country?
