Minor fluid lose won't hurt, and water leaking in shouldn't be a problem, unless you do a lot of deep fording (without plugs, the ball joint at the shift lever will leak worse). Even then, the water will sink to the bottom, and you can let it out and replace the plug when 90wt start flowing.
