Dual rims on inside with disk brakes-NO GO

There was an exchange last forum about the use of the Budd dual rims from military trailers on our PW's and M37's. I just finished putting a set of Helitool disks on my B4 axels, and I tried one of my dual rims on it, on the inside position. The rivets are placed so that they rub on the caliper casting, but this could be corrected with a bit of grinding (about .030" I'd guess) The real problem is that the additional 2 1/2" offset in the rim places the valve opening so that it is almost centered over the rotor. I can see no way to mount a tire and tube, unless you went to an off center valve placement, and redrilled the rim to accept it. Sounds like we stick with the standard rim on the inside, and use the dual on the outside. I can send pics to Joe if he wants to post, or to anybody who cares to see. Rob
