When I look at a head gasket for a V8 engine compared to the water passages in the head & block it appears the gasket holes are, in some cases, smaller in diameter than the head or block pasages. Is this water flow restriction a design intent and if so... why? Shouldn't the gasket water passages be at least as large as the head & block (should the gasket holes be resized to match the block/head?)? When I pulled one of the heads on my engine there were at least 2 passages that appeared very restricted due to corrosion collecting at the "smaller" water passages in the gasket. Any help here is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
