This is a little off topic, but there's no one else to ask...that I trust.
I built a log splitter and to save a few bucks I used a hydraulic pump off a tractor, it ran off a PTO and powered all sorts of things.
The splitter is done, but it seems like this pump is so huge that the system on the log splitter will not handle the volume of oil that this pump delivers. The motor will not reach opperating speed and bogs down bad when the cylinder is cycled.
I'm thinking that I could put a gate valve on the feed line to limit the volume of oil available to the pump but I'm worried about burning up the pump from lack of oil(if that makes sense)
I know nothing about hydraulics...any input would be greatly appreciated....I have tons of time invested in this project and would like to see it work....thanks
