I did the same as dave,first with a power steam washer it made everything like new. I had to drain the gear oil right away because it got in all the seals.I did not sandblast my frame instead I wire brushed by hand with different size brushed and on the large open areas I used a 4 inch grinder with a brush. It was a nasty dirty job but it turned out great . then I primed and used chassis black.
