I always spray the new light cosmoline like stuff (LPS-3?) on my gears when done with assembly, and leave it to be rinsed off by gear lube during a first no-load run in after the gear box is back in a truck. That way if I'm delayed a year or two in using it, I don't worry about condensation rust on my good parts. I don't know if I'd be happy with the heavy military goo, but I'd probably just leave it. Anybody else do this or think I'm nuts? Rob
