Generally, and I mean generally, you can identify a FF by the large hub sticking out from the rear wheel. This large hub will have bolts or nuts around the perimeter, not to be confused with the lug nuts which hold the wheel on. The hub nuts hold the axle flange to the brake drum, which is held to the the axle housing by two spindle nuts and a spindle lock washer. The spindle is actually the end of the axle tube, the bearings ride on the axle tube. Mike C's explanation is an excellent description of the fact that a full floater allows the axle housing to carry the weight while a Semi Floater carries the weight on the axle shaft itself.
