Somewhere in a book I have seen pictures of US Army in manoeuvres in either Alaska or Northern part of Canada.... within the tree line as background..... they had duals front and back... the captions explained how the wheels (only the front pass. side is readily visible) had been covered in a special canvas with wooden slat bolted every six inches or so. Claimed they were meant to float the vehicle in deep snow.... and not for speed.
The vehicle was definitely M37.....
...any one ever seen... or read of such a contraption??? ..... similar arrangements were done on special wide track halftracks for the front wheels.
