I've been doing some grafting on a power wagon recently, I needed to weld a roof on a truck and as you said the dash was cut to hell and I had a good one I could use. I looked it over for a while and deceided not to remove the dash even though the roof was cut off at the top of the dash. The dash is only welded in a few spots as well as the spot welds at the cowl. The problem I saw was that the dash is slid into the side member a bit which to me would make it very hard to remove without distorting a bunch of things. I therefore choose to weld the holes in the dash itself, probably will take less time. Good luck
