Found a 1957 K6-W300

I was shown a 1957 K6-W300 today or at least that is what I figure it is going by the serial number. When I looked at the list of serial numbers there is only a starting number and not an ending number for this year. Does anybody have any more info other than that, like if this is a California made truck?
Serial number is 83955079.
A young man lives at the place and says it belongs to his Dad. He is going to try to get in touch with him to see what he wants for it. She's been sitting a long time and there is a lot of surface rust but she looks complete except someone took the winch. If I don't buy it I will post it on this board for anyone that might be interested.
Any info would be appreciated,
