RE: Diff. cover; paper gaskets, even the gasket carboard box, is ok/ Coat both sides with a silicone sealer to make for easier removal in the future. You can also just use silicone seal like ultra copper or the new black stuff. The horn wire should run down the center of the steering column and exit the bottom of the steering box. If it is gone, look for the hole in the end of the box and fish a new one through. The pinion seal on the front diff can be popped out with a screwdriver and a new one pressed in by using a BIG socket as a seal driver. If you can't get the pinion yoke nut off, try an impact if you have one. If not, put a breaker bar on the nut, wedge the bottom end of the bar against the ground. lock the front hubs, pull the coil wire and ground it, then have someone turn the starter over with the truck in first gear, clutch engaged. As the truk moves, the pinion will turn and the breaker bar will (hopefully) remain stationary.
