I was born and raised in California. The weather in Northern CA sucks (cold and damp) and Southern California is not much better (hot and dry) unless you are along the coast (which I am). The state is run by idiots and the Southern border is still pourous. The traffic is terrible if you have to commute and the house prices are obsene (sic). Most people look forward to retiring out of state. That being said, let me know if I can help you with any research or advice before you move. I live right next to Redondo Beach and am lucky enough not to travel the freeways very often.
Moving to California is like sleeping in the same room with an elephant. You can do it if you are very careful.
We just got a new addition to the family, Rosie, a eight month old rescued Saint Bernard. Now I just need to figure out how to make it snow here.
