Water in flathead, cut my losses and go w/360?

Well, after working on the old WC18 for 3 years now, trying to fix it up (too far gone to go orginal) I removed the carb and found water in the flathead. Dang rain.
It was a 1950 D34 230 with zero oil pressure anyway.

So, now I have two options. Get a hard to find 1971 360 and get the kit to install it, along with a newer tranny and a bunch of other things.

Or find a 1970s truck and move the WC body over.
I am thinking about the latter do to the other things I have to do. Like...

Rebuild axles,(bearings, lot of slop in the diff) disc brake kit, new bearings in drive shaft, new springs (no oem exist so I would need custom ones made.)
I need to fix the cut in the frame when someone tried to put power steering in. (Not me) And if I go with a 360/318 I would want a newer tranny with sync, or at least, rebuild the one I have. Then I have the little things. Lots of them.

I would like to keep it orginal as much as I can, but if I do spend the money on the 360 and rebuild everything else, I won't have the daily driver I want.

Swap the WC body and I get a good drivetrain and a truck that will do what I want for a lot less cash. Not orginal tho. :(
