Hi John. I crawled all over the 5-speed I have in a 1940 VD-15 Dodge at my Green River place today. I couldn't find a single data tag on it but the casting number on the main case was C-38801 and the casting number on the shifter top case was C-38802. It also has a rubber donut that sits at the base of the shift lever that is laid out in a strange pattern: The top shifts from left to right as 2 - 4 - R. The bottom shifts from left to right as 3 - 5 - 1. The motor is stuck, so I can't turn it in gear to count revolutions to see if it's an OD transmission. By the way, it is the big block flathead 6 (head is 25-inches long) and according to the engine number, it was originally from a DeSoto (T123-xxxxx).
