I have a '66 W500 which I intend to use for occasional trailer hauling that is nearly identical to Chris' listed below for sale. The factory front Rockwell FDS750 axle is rated for 7,500 lbs. and the rear Rockwell H141 is rated for 17,000 lbs. according to the factory manual. The data plate on the door pillar lists the GVW at 20,000 lbs., there is no GCWR rating listed, but I would think it should be able to tow at least an additional 10,000 lbs. based on its horsepower if the trailer had good brakes. The trucks weigh approximately 10,000 lbs., so with some of the weight on a gooseneck 15,000 to 17,000 should be a trailerable load, though it would not be very quick on the road for stopping or starting. Most of the W500s that I have seen are equipped with hydraulic brakes and a vacuum booster from the factory, though an air/hydraulic system like a military 6x6 should not be too hard to install.
