vin number on frame where is it i cant find mine

I bought my first flat fender today and the people i bought it from lost the title so i dont know what year it is. i do know that its a 1951 to 1957 model year going by the information on this forum. the cab plates are missing. is the vin number on the top under the battery tray or on the side or on the bottom. I need the number so i can get a title for it. please help. dave.
