I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe that the larger bore should face the front of the truck. I think the logic is something like: The larger bore can exert more force on the front shoe, which does most of the work in braking, and the rear shoe is a trailing shoe. I wouldn't think the result of installing incorrectly would be loss of fluid, but rather diminished braking effeciency. I'm open to correction on this.
My brakes never worked very good until I borrowed a friends speed bleeder. His was supposed to work at very low pressure, which I found inadequate. I made my own pressure bottle that allowed me to pump it up to 30psi. This allowed me to remove all the air from my lines and essentially flush the entire system. Although the 30 psi pressure is nowhere near the pressure attained during braking, it also served to reveal any leaks in the system. You go through alot of fluid, but hey, it's worth it to have good brakes.
