The place I bank at publishes a swap sheet once a week. Ads are free for members and it takes two weeks for your ad to show. When I picked it up yesterday there was an ad that read: "1943 Dodge 1 ton. No title. Engine runs. Decent metal."
I called real quick.
The guy returned my call later on that afternoon and told me that, well, he kinda had part of the truck.
Part of the truck?
Well, yeah. I put the ad in two weeks ago, and no one called, so I cut it up for scrap.
Scrap.
I almost got sick. Scrap! A running flathead! Tranny. I went anyway to see what he had left. He's got the rear axle, which is a six bolt dually with decent tires. Means it wasn't a flatfender (thank God!) but all those parts!
I gave him my number and asked him to call me whenever an old Dodge truck came by. Preferably before he fired up the torch. :(
