When you push in the dimmer switch you are switching between the high beam and low beam circuts. Three things could be wrong; 1) a broken wire on the low or high beam circuit. Check the wires from the switch to the lights. 2) Both high beam or low beam head lights could be burned out. 3) The dimmer switch could be defective. They are replaceable for a nominal cost from an auto parts store. Go to a good one like NAPA.
