Both the 230 and 251 are low C/R engines and will run quite well on low grade 87 octane.

Using the higher 93 octane rated gas will not improve preformance enough to justify the higher cost of the fuel.

True lead (tetraethyl) additives are cancer causing and are illegal to put into your motor vehicle. If you are talking about Octane boosters - they are a scam. Several advertise that they can boost your octane five to ten points. However they consider a "point" to be 1/10 of an octane number. An entire bottle of that stuff will not raise your octane rating from 87 to 88.

Using the higher octane rating will not improve preformance appreciablly to offset the higher cost

The 251 already has hardened valve seats and does not need any additional additives to prevent "valve recession"
