Check that the choke is closing all the way when the engine is completely cold and the accelerator has been pumped once. If the choke is closing all the way then see that the choke pull-off (the little vacuum thing attached to the choke, but nothing to do with our president ) opens the choke about an eighth of an inch once the engine has started. Sounds like the choke is opening too much initially for cold operation.
