I own a 1941 Dodge 1/2 ton wc-12. It has drums all around, 14" in back, 11" up front (stock setup)
I would like to upgrade the brakes in some way, as the truck is not easy to stop, especially with the 9.00-16 tires.

There are many people who put disk brakes on an M37 rig, and I in fact have info on doing this. However, the setup described does not work with the 1/2 ton front axle.

Any body out there ever do a conversion on a 1/2
ton front axle? What parts were used? Any drawings
of fabricated parts available?

I heard from someone that they had seen a 1/2 ton with some sort of disk brake conversion out at the
Iowa rally, so I know its been done before.
Anyone know this person?

If not the disk brake setup, how about upgrading to 14" drums up front. Anybody ever do this? Maybe use
drums, backing plates ect. from an M37 or something

I really need some help. My truck is all restored and runs great. However, stopping is becoming a" cross-
your-fingers and hope kinda thing" If I had to stop
quick in an emergency, I really don't think I could.

ANy info from any source greatly appreciatted. I would really like to converse with someone who actually did this conversion.
