Hi everyone,

I just finished a draft of an article on rebuilding the M37 distributor. Now I'm doing some more research for a second article on PW and M37 ignition modifications, and I have a few questions that I'm hoping you folks can answer:

What kind of advance does your PW distributor have?
- Vacuum only?
- Centrifugal only?
- Combination of vacuum and centrifugal?

If it is a vacuum only, where does the vacuum line connect?
- Intake manifold?
- Carburetor venturi or throat?
- Combination of carb and intake manifold?

If it is a combination vacuum and centrifugal advance, where does the vacuum line connect?
- Intake manifold?
- Carburetor venturi or throat?
- Combination of carb and intake manifold?

Do you happen to know if the drive tab at the end of the distributor shaft is CENTERED or OFFSET?

Any additional information would be helpful, such as make, model number, etc. I also welcome any opinion and observations that might be helpful.

When I get all this information compiled, I'll post any useful stuff to the forum.

I'm currently converting an M37 distributor to a breakerless ignition (almost done) and the same approach can be used on PW distributors. It will work with no external modifications, but it does take a bit of customizing. I'm also working on another approach that will be easier to install, but will use an external control box. Anyway, I need answers to these questions to clear up some gray areas regarding cross-compatibility and required alterations.

Thanks in advance.

Alan
