I just finished assembling my 230 a month ago. when I took apart the engine I found that there was a spun rod bearing#1 and a cracked piston, also in that hole. The #1 rod had worn into the crank web. I took the crank to a machine shop in Billings. The machinist, one of the best, told me that he could build up the web, but it was best not too. He measured the amount that the web and rod were worn. We made the choice to move rods around. here is my problem. with out thinking I changed #1 and #2 rods. I change over the pistons to there right cylinder. The rod are offset so what i had to do was turn the numbers opposite of the cam. They normally would go on cam side. I would not of had a problem if I would have changed #1 and #3. By switching #1and #2 the bearing tangs were changed around. The piston cooling hole in the rod is also on the other side. (the oil holes line up). I was wondering if having the tang on the other side would make them more likly to spin. The engine has not run yet. I was wondering If anyone has a opinion on this. Should I move the rods around. I would run it. Thanks for your time.
