The quickest way to screw up a decent truck is to stick husge tires on and not have the correct axles, gears or suspension. ESPECIALLY GEARS. I wouldn't go over 35-36" with a half ton if you are going to use it for carrying loads or especially off-road. Even if you go up from 31 to 36 ", you MUST change the gearign if you want to retain performance. Of course, maybe your 440 is overgeared already, in which case 15% bigger tires will be just right. but in that case you'll lose that much in the low end, including creep speed, unless you have a NP435 with 6.69 1st, in which case it doesn't matter much.
