I have given myself a self imposed deadline for completing my restoration of my B4, 2003 as my truck will be 50 years old-amazing. My plan is to take 1 day a week and set it asside for truck work. I pace myself that way and keep my eye on small managable tasks rather than let the job overwhelm me. Last week end I reurned the rear hubs on the truck after cleaning, and painting. I repacked the bearings and replaced the seals. I also replaced the 6 running board brackets on the frame which is still on blocks. Next week- finish the rear brakes and replace the rear third member and so on. I found the hardest filthiest job was the sand blasting the frame and getting it ready, otherwise I feel happy with each little milestone I make to the ultimate completion. I believe the secret to getting a job like this done and seeing it through is to not try to start more than one job at the same time, spread the work out, (work a little, save a little. In that way costs wont kill you as you know this aint cheap stuff! Take l;ots of photos to document during disassembly and keep a journal of work and make lots of drawings so you can get it back together and don't be discouraged it is fun isnt it?!
