i have been scratching my head about this one for awhile. a friend of mine has given me a 66 d200 that has a wide block 318 and a np435d3 in it. he said there were problems with the motor and i happen to have a couple of old hemis sitting on the floor of the shop. one is a 57 desoto 341 and one is an industrial 331. i also have an np542 out of an old 2 1/2 ton gmc farm truck that had a tall deck 427 that the farmer wanted to keep. my question is will the np542 bolt up in place of the np435 and will an early hemi bolt up to the bellhousing off of the wide block 318 and are the flywheels the same? if anyone knows i will be gratefull. i'd rather not pull everything apart and not have it be compatible.
