That seems real high. Are you sure they didn't quote stainless or something? As I recall, our local yard (Everett Steel) charges $.50/lb for standard shapes, $.25/lb for rems, and $.70/lb for hollow rectangular shapes. The mega-discount-home-center across the street charges 2 or 3 times as much. I don't have my AISC handbook handy, but if you look it up it will tell you what the weight per foot is for that shape.
