Headliner installation question...

In a vain attempt to get ready for the IA rally, I have a long complicated question...; when I bought my '48 Flat fender, along with oodles of new goodies the guy had bought, there is a new headliner kit (I assume from VPW, and I'd e-mail Dave, but figured he would be a little busy at this time of the year!). There are no instructions, but I figured, "IT GOES OVER YOUR HEAD". Figured even I could figure that out!! ...I can't. Hard to explain if no one's ever done this, but the front of the top piece, above the wiper motor access panel, does the headliner go over the top of that, or does it get trapped, 'pinched' between the metal strip that comes out and that header panel? Make any sense?? The side panel 'flaps', do they go up behind the area over the doors, or again pinched between those side metal strips that come off? My wife was helping me (...oooooo, big help there... more of a lesson on patience actually...) and she said the main headliner panel must go up behind those metal edges. I thought, "Then what would the purpose of these metal decorative strips be for - looks?" So my guess would be the edges of the headliner stay outside of metal cab edges and get trapped behind the trim pieces. Does anyone know if the instructions came with a disclaimer, "Some trimming may be required" 'cause I think I can get it into place, with some minor trimming, but I'd hate to start cutting if I don't have to.

If anyone was able to follow that, please respond or e-mail me with HELP!!!!
Thanks gang!
Dana
