It doesn't really matter. Just take a jumper wire and cross field to battery momentarily to polarize the generator. It will work ether way. Set it the way you want. Civilian post war are positive ground. Military are negative ground to my knowledge. The truck really does not care one way or the other. If you hook up the battery wrong the only thing you will notice is that the amp meter will go the other way. Polarize the generator and the amp meter will go the right way or the other way.
